DAEYONG BYUN KOREA 1972
Daeyong Byun makes a work of his ideal of dreams and object of comfort. The bear and other animals in his work are the appearances of the artist himself as well as his family and the people around him. Therefore his bear looks fairy tale but also comes into our daily life. Animals, including bears in fairy tale books, are stories about humans. Today, the sheets of floating ice are melting from global warming and the white polar bear has become more visible through the green grass. Since their existence exposes easily to the outside, it became more difficult environment to survive and this is not different not only for animals but also for human life. His works represent the image of struggling to live by comparing it to animals. He expresses the human story in a sophisticated way with a unique bright color and smooth texture through the bear.
